Ava Insights setup
ℹ️ Note: Ava Insights is currently available for early adopters only.
Overview
Ava Insights lets users ask questions about Unit4 ERPx business data in plain language in Microsoft Teams. It returns answers based on the data available to the user.
To use Ava Insights, the tenant must be activated, the required data must be available and users must have the required access.
Prerequisites
The following prerequisites apply:
- Ava is active.
- Ava Insights is active.
- Data Hub is active.
Unit4 arranges the activation for early adopters, but the customer is responsible of user access management.
Data availability
Unit4 defines the data available to Ava Insights. The same list applies to every tenant, and customers cannot select it during the early adopter release. Ava Insights answers questions only about the objects in this list and only when the user's access allows it.

If a user asks about another area, Ava may return the closest matching data, or say that it does not see matching data and suggest rephrasing the question or changing the time range. If users regularly get no answer for data that your organisation expects to be available, raise the issue with Unit4.
Access control
Ava Insights uses the identity and access rights of the person who asks the question. It does not use a shared service account. The following table summarises how ERPx access controls apply during the early adopter release.
| Unit4 ERPx mechanism | Status in Ava Insights |
|---|---|
| Company access | Applied. |
| Object-level access | Applied. |
| Data Control by attribute value | Not applied. |
| Distributed reports | Ava Insights uses the underlying data. It does not apply report filters or column restrictions. |
| Workspaces with attribute context | Ava Insights does not apply the workspace context filter. |
| Defined filters with macros, such as own-record filters | Ava Insights cannot limit results to a user's own records through this mechanism. |
Finer-grained access control is planned, but no date is confirmed.
⚠️ Warning: If your organisation relies on distributed reports or workspace context to restrict analytical access, users may see data in Ava Insights that they cannot see in those reports. Review which users receive access and exclude sensitive data areas where required. Restrict the Ava Insights team in Microsoft Teams to approved users.
See Ava Insights access control for the role setup and recommended objects.
